Sugarpova says 7-Eleven chocolate listing is a 'game changer'

Tennis star Maria Sharapova’s chocolate line has secured distribution at two major US retailers.

Select 7-Eleven and Kroger Stores nationwide will stock Sugarpova Premium Chocolate from spring this year.

Kroger will sell the range across 250 natural sections in its US store network from June 2017.

Maria Sharapova said: “Selling Sugarpova Chocolate in Kroger – one of the world’s largest and premier supermarket chains – allows for us to speak to a whole new range of consumers.”

7-Eleven a ‘game changer’

Select 7-Eleven stores will carry Sugarpova Dark Chocolate with Coconut and Sugarpova Milk Chocolate with Strawberry varieties from this month.

Max Eisenbud, Sugarpova CEO, said working with 7-Eleven was a “game changer”.

The Sugarpova Chocolate range is comprised of 100g bars of Dark, Milk, Dark with Toasted Coconut, and Milk with Strawberry varieties, which have a suggested retail price of $3.99-$4.99.

Baron Chocolatier

Sugarpova began as a premium gummies brand in 2012. The sugar confectionery is produced by Spanish-based candy maker Sanchez Cano, owner of the Fini brand.

Sugarpova entered chocolate last year with a range manufactured by Baron Chocolatier, a US-based company with Polish roots.

It also plans to expand beyond chocolate bars with a truffle range and milk chocolate covered gummy lips.

Maria Sharapova is set to return to professional tennis at the Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart this month following a 15-month doping ban.
