Temkin International launches hook closure for confectionery packaging

Temkin International has launched an Aplix seal for confectionery packaging which has a hook-to-hook re-closable system.

The closure is made of heat-sealable polyethylene and food grade material and the seal has self-mating micro hooks that close together without having to align the two sides.

User-friendly zipper

Kito Temkin, director, business development, Temkin International, told ConfectioneryNews, Aplix is part of a new product line that it is has just started to offer to clients so it does not have any companies that have placed any orders as yet.  

The Aplix zipper is a user-friendly zipper that offers the consumer multiple ways to ensure they have closed the zipper,” he said. 

Not only can you feel when the zipper closes but with the Aplix zipper you can hear and see it closing with the hook and loop features.” 

Temkin added the main advantage in using the Aplix zipper closure for the confectionery industry is the value added option it gives to the package. 

Because it is easy to use, the zipper gives a package a higher end look and feel, and it sets it apart from the rest of the competition that has a standard press to close zipper,” he said.  

Sugar coated products

It is also useful when packaging products that are sugar coated, or have any other powdery or granulated residue that might fall off the product and get caught in the zipper area of a regular zipper closure.

But for products that require a hermetic, or air tight closure, Aplix zipper may not be the best fit for those products.”

In addition to the Aplix seal, Temkin International has a portfolio including;Press-to-Close Zippers, Double Track Zippers and Pocket Zippers. Clients include Purdy’s chocolates, Jelly Belly, Fat Boy and Häagen-Dazs.

The company, established in 1980, is based in Payson, Utah, US where it has its own packaging line, in-house design team, plate making, and high-speed wide web printing presses, including an 11-color press named Apollo.
