One of the themes of the AIPIA Americas Summit in New Jersey (June 4,5) was NFC (Near Field Communication) tags and AR (Augmented Reality).

Here BeverageDaily talks to Xerox, Systech, Strata, and thinfilm abut what they can offer customers in terms of digital technology.

According to Dick de Koning, chairman, AIPIA, digitalization includes packages that can be part of a customer journey interacting with a customer at the point of purchase or at home, via a video; sensors that measure temperature; or printed barcodes that become fingerprints stored in the cloud to verify authenticity.

At the two-day conference, Strata demonstrated its content creation platform with an AR layer with a video, image, or 3D image, to make a package come alive.

Thinfilm showed its NFC tag embedded into the neck collar of an alcohol bottle or the label itself which can perform tap to do promotions, brand loyalty, and customer engagement.
