Speaking to Stuart Johnston, MD, Kervan Gida UK, he said: “Sales of Bebeto, our halal-accredited confectionery brand, are growing at a rapid pace and we believe this is because they are high quality and great value, with the added bonus that they cater for people with a variety of dietary requirements including vegetarians and Halal.
“Following a recent survey by Islamic marketing consultancy Ogilvynoor, it revealed more than three-quarters of British Muslims would like retailers to pay more attention to their specific needs. We’re keen for retailers to know that the Bebeto confectionery range presents an opportunity for retailers to provide customers with dietary requirements with delicious and affordable treats that are easy to find on the high street."
Global Halal Market
According to Euromonitor’s ‘New Consumerism and the Global Halal Market’, webinar in January, the Muslim population grew by 18% over the last 10 years compared to the global population growth of 11%, strengthening demand for halal food, drinks, beauty and fashion products among others.
“Young adults are the main users of social media and internet. They become more interested in the latest trends, global events, and use multiple social media platforms. This makes new food and service experiences, fashion and cosmetic products more accessible to them,” said Emil Fazira, senior analyst, Euromonitor International.
Established in 1995, Kervan Gida has a global turnover of more than £80m and operates in 70 countries. In the UK, it is one of the fastest growing confectionery manufacturers based in Chichester.
Brands include Bebeto and Dexters and last year it sold in excess of 8 million bags of its Bebeto spaghetti lines.
