European discount supermarket Lidl has announced a new deal with Fairtrade America to offer US customers a unique private label chocolate bar that contributes to a living income for cocoa farmers.
The German grocer has augmented its existing sustainable chocolate policy for private-label products as part of its overarching ‘Way To Go’ program of responsible sourcing.
Lidl is successfully undercutting competitors in premium and organic and would benefit hugely from a restructure towards this strength, says The Hartman Group.
