British premium sweet brand Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls is marking its 125th-anniversary with a limited edition tin of some of its bestsellers.

The Wigan-based manufacturer reaches the milestone next year and previewed the special tin at this year’s Speciality Fine Food Fair in London.

Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls are made by Wigan-based William Santus and Co Ltd, a privately-owned traditional sweet company that was established in 1898. The ownership has been passed down through the family generations.

The family firm also showcased tins of berries, liquorice and caramel flavours from its new sugar-free Mint with a Hint range, as well as tins and bags from its Halloween and Christmas ranges, which are new for export in 2022.

Its Mint Balls are still manufactured using the same traditional methods from 1898 – and the completely natural ‘secret recipe’ has been passed down through the family generations.

John Winnard MBE and Ant Winnard, Joint Managing Director of Uncle Joe’s, said: “We have been very busy making plans for our 125th anniversary and we are confident that people will love the limited-edition tins that we will be making available.”
