A family-run, artisan chocolatier has become the only SALSA accredited chocolate company in Wales.

Wickedly Welsh Chocolate was set up by Karen and Mark Owen in 2014. Based in the heart of Pembrokeshire, the company supplies chocolate to London’s premium department store to the Queen, Fortnum & Mason.

SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) is recognised as the leading food safety certification scheme for the UK’s small food and drink producers. The accreditation is widely accepted by both retailers and food service providers and most buyers within retailers will ask food and drink companies to gain the SALSA approval before agreeing to stock any produce.

Wickedly Welsh Chocolate is a dream come true for us and we are so happy to not just be the only SALSA accredited chocolate company in Wales, but to also now be stocked by some amazing premium organisations like Fortnum & Mason and the Celtic Manor Resort,” said Mark Owen.

I hope all of our awards and achievements show our customers the obsession we have to make the most delicious and beautiful chocolates we can in the safest and most sustainable way. This is especially important to us since the recent food allergy tragedies that have happened in the UK due to poor labelling.”
